Letter to Editor, Naples Daily News of Jan 26, -14

“SAFETY OR SHOWBIZ”    IF YOU ARE  MIFFED OR CURIOUS ABOUT OUR SECURITY COSTS, READ BOB STABILE’S LETTER.   The last 2 paragraphs:    …..WE ELIMINATED THE GATES AND GUARDS AND CUT OUR ANNUAL assessment in half.  Nothing bad has happened as a result. We eliminated an inconvenience and  expense.  Other gated communities should do the same. Perhaps rational residents are in the majority.

  1. Seriously? I guess the latest series of home invasions in Naples don't bother you.

  2. Most people moved here because it is a gated secure community and it should remain that way!

    1. This place is far from secure. Why don't you ask about the recent attempted break-ins.

    2. Key word "attempted"

    3. Fiddlers Creek is as secure as you can get with devoted employees looking out for us constantly No one in this county, or country can guarantee one hundred percent security. You also need vigilant neighbors. There is always a possibility of an inside job. Report suspicious activity to security at once..

  3. What attempted breakins? In FC?

  4. There are pedestrians and bicyclists that enter thru the back gate/Championship that are not residents. They enjoy the sidewalk safety and ability to ride their bikes w/o fear high of speed traffic which is an issue outside our gates. This is an amenity that is paid for by us. Two summers ago when I questioned why are we using a different type of towel at the pool, the striped ones vs. the beige ones that had been in use initially, an employee stated that "Over 300 towels were stolen during the summer." Not only is our security force overcompensated, their priorities appear out of order.

  5. We cannot prevent the public from using public roadways which are what the main roads in FC are. We can only attempt to "control" access.
